World memory champion Andi Bell’s card technique. [1/2]

This is a cut segment from a larger documentary on the brain titled “BBC – Get Smart”; It reveals some of the techniques used by world champion Andi Bell. Andi holds the current world record for speed cards of 31.16 seconds. You can see more of his results at web.aanet.com.au . Andi Bell isn’t an autistic savant, meerly someone who has trained their brain to be able to memorize and codify information in the brain using advanced mnemonic techniques. If you’re interested in this kind of thing, let me know. I’ll be happy to give you more information. You can email me at tranceriver@gmail.com , and I will happily respond. I love emails :) . I will 100% respond. Hopefully you will enjoy this video as much as I did. [Update:I've Uploaded the second half at www.youtube.com , thus making this 1/2 .] Enjoy!

@GodoftheGeeks also allot of those guys have a level of focus and concentration that is really amazing compared to the average person.
In fact memory training is similar to meditation in its effects on the brain, in? what meditation does in years, memory training can do in months. So you can get the focus/concentration/peace of mind just by training your memory and get to a level that those monks that meditate in the mountains get too, or even higher!

  14. TyneOdu says:

@GodoftheGeeks? not necessarily, there is something special that happens with a well training mind like this guys. These memory champions are able to acces a special state when the brain is taxed at memorizing allot of information, it releases special chemicals and neurotransmitters that speed up brain function to the point that focus and concentration and thinking speed is literally beyond normal human levels.

@hermotsura I agree. the principles are simple,? but I think the complexity of the terms is what throws people off.

This? is really cool I’m going to try practing this.

    @Equivicae

but how do you not get the sequences from the past not mess up? your current sequences? i would get confused …..

  19. bofhd89o says:

in my pov its not necessary to follow this method..there are many memorizing methods..pick one that suits ur memory…some people memorize melodies like me…BUT get the main idea? behind memorizing which is linking and associating things together ;D

  20. lopytube says:

Damn this guy makes me sad.

Its takes me 20 min to remember 2 decks.?

  21. SuperRocketPenguin says:

school must be so much better for guys like? these lol, sigh

  22. MrKayetanBucker says:

    this is? fuckin ridiculous

  23. xSilverPhinx says:

Does a person form more neural connections from using this technique (supposibly involving more different areas of the brain) than they would if there were to just memorise a sequence of card pictures?

If memory savants such as Kim Peek use more of their brains for memory storage, is what this memory champ doing sort? of similar?

  24. snizshizzle says:

What system would you use to find out what card is missing? from the deck?
